I recently bought a rolex 1601, and I need a little guidance. The seller of this . I have taken interest on a 1601 DJ, and saw a silver non lume dial of the early . But what makes me a little doubtful is the lack of lume on the hands of this watch while the dial has lume. Got back home and noticed that the batons all have lume so glows perfectly in the dark but the silver hour and minute hand is plain with no lume whatsoever. This means that in the dark, you still can't tell the time even if the batons are glowing brightly!
I have taken interest on a 1601 DJ, and saw a silver non lume dial of the early 70s. The dial has T printed but both the dial and hands are lumeless. A trained eye will note that although the dial is stamped “T Swiss T”, there is no tritium lume to be found anywhere on the dial or the hands. This watch features a rare "no lume" dial which features a more ornate black and white gold marker and hand set, all set upon a silver "pie pan" stepped dial. This dial configuration is a scarce and unique feature on a watch that is in excellent condition and comes with its original warranty papers. I am looking for my first Rolex and I love the 1501 / 15010 with the engine turned bezel. I found a nice example but I am not sure if it is true to itself.
