My heart is saying get the FOIS, it really suits my style being slightly more retro looking and smaller, I also like leather .

I currently own an Omega Speedmaster 42 mm and am considering buying the First Omega in Space (FOIS) model. I have been trying to find the lug to lug distance of the FOIS since that is the dimension I'm really looking to reduce, but have not been able to find it listed anywhere. I found this picture with detail measurements of the standard Speedy: At first i really found it flashy and cool, the first impression was like "wow". But when wearing the watch it kind of started getting annoying with time. and now it hardly gets any wrist time. I had a simmilar impression with the new FOIS, it constantly plays with light. which is somehow cool at first, but i am afraid it gets a bit annoying .

The natural thing to do is drop in a 3861, freshen up the looks (ceramic bezel, sapphire sandwich) and sell it as an alternative to the Professional model, or as an addition in one's collection. This is a real alternative to those that want a little smaller, guard free style watch and don't need a sapphire back. Not exactly a bargain at US,900 though, that's 0 (+12.9%) more than the plain back 3861 standard release, but .
